Things I have been doing

The first picture I am posting is the male and female outside my front window .If you can enlarge the picture you would see them clearer .In the photo programme I can enlarge them but I don't know how to post them in that state.

Then there are the little seedlings sitting in the sunny front window.
There are the crochet squares that I have not decided the pattern in which to arrange them.
These are the rugs I am doing just now.
The blue one on the couch is made of cut up jeans .
I love the soft tones of the others.
Sunday afternoon . The roadshow is coming on so good bye for now. Gramma

THEY'R BACK AGAIN!

This morning as I was laying in bed praying in that land between dream and reality I peeped out and saw a red blur,

a bird flitting across my sight path. I reached across and felt for my glasses and put them on. Sure enough a male cardinal sat out on the closeby tree and then he was gone.

I know that cardinals do not go south but the do change their behavior. These pictures are of last years episode that lasted about a month. I will keep track this year.

What happened was the female cardial did not like the look of the red top that was on my talc on my window sill and she began to try to attack it. She bashed herself against my window.

she would sit in the pear tree and then take a swoop and hit the window. I tried to get a good picture of that happening but with the electronic camera there is a second or two lag that gave her time to get away. In these pictures there is a male waiting for her in the bush you see .Well barely see it

I can't get the picture to get bigger. The other top is her flying back away from the window . Her wings are spread.

Then there she is peeping in my window. By this time I removed the bottle.

What happened next is she went to the front of the house an started at the basement window with an red impatience in bloom. at last she even attacked the wood shop window. Then they gave up and went and built a nest and attended to buisness.
The last picture is her outside the workshop window. Mom
These pictures do not come out very clear.

Awana awards.

I thought there were some out there that would like to see this old newspaper clipping from the Napanee Beaver.
Janie Ried, Jonathan Adams, and Elizabeth Germain.
I am not sure what the awards were for but it must have been for memorizing scripture.
Good for you guys . That must have been in around 1988
or so . correct me if I am wrong.
I know Janie has one little one herself and Liz has two little boys .I wonder what Jon is doing?
Bye for to-day Gramma

Gods blessings today

This morning it was -23 c but the sun was shining brightly and when I looked at my window sill

there were these lovely flowers blooming . A Blessing and encouragment that the warm weather would soon be here . God has promised after the flood that there would always be a time to plant and a time to harvest. I have started some patunia seed and statice . The statice has begun to grow after only a few days but I know the patunia takes much longer. They are small seeds ,like pepper. Unless a seed falls to the ground and dies it only remains a single seed .But if it dies it produces many seeds. That is not a perfect quote. I have collected many patunia seeds. Of course they have to be open pollenated. That is not Hybred. To be able to reproduce themselves. I got this seed to begin with from the seed exchange at the horticulture society.in Napanee. Now I can share it with others. Patunias take nearly three months to grow so you have to start them in Feb. I put mine in a pot last week so I am a bit late. Well I have seen robins and the sun wakes me up earlier and this weekend is the change in time so It won't be long untill we can get on our vespas and fly around. Vespa in Italian means wasp.

I thank God for all His many Blessings and am especially encouraged today. Love Ruth

Littlemores, a barge family.

This is a picture of a renovated barge that was at one time a home and a way of earning a living.
The Littlemores were one of the families that lived and worked on these barges that moved lumber , coal, and every type of raw materials that were needed in manufacture . The story is told of one family in the book "Ramlin Rose" by Sheila Stewart. It is a true story with photos of these hard working families.
The children didn't get to school very often. Only when the barge was loading up and they were close by to a school were the children able to go for a while.
Most of these boats were just left to rot after other ways of transport came to be. Some were rescued and made into luxury holiday craft. There are some of the people in our Littlemore group who lived on this boat shown here. I think Her name is Jenny . Her mother passed away a few years ago.
I notice this has the name Tamworth on it and of course we in Ontario canada have a Tamworth
only five miles away from our house. I notice the name of the barge is Hood and I went to school in Toronto at "D B Hood" .I don't know what D. B. stands for . I will have to look up who Hood was .I do know there was a large battle ship that was sunk named the Hood.
The book I have mentioned is by Oxford paperbacks.
Thats all for to day folks. Mom.

The sun is shining after the storm.

It is 2:32 and the storm has passed and the sun is shining.
I am humbled by the wonderful writing of my other family members blogs. everything is so meadingful and profound as opposed to my dog walking and weather reports.
Oh I do have something to tell . I got a bingo while playing scrabble with Mary . I got 72 points and the computer gave me a round of applause.:).
I just remembered something Tim told us while we were down east last fall.
Tim Lee and Lucas where in a bad accident I think last winter. They were in a company truck when they hit ice and rolled over down a enbankment. The truck landed upside down and Lucas got out and went back up to the road to hail down a car to help them. He was 8 or 9 at the time.
They all where ok . The truck was new and the owner had replacement insurance.
The other thing is that they have begun to go to a church and Tim sounds excited about it. He told me this week.
He is going to school right now to get his electricians qualifications.
I know there is a lot of anger still about him and I still have issues too but we all need to forgive him no matter how hard that is . for our own good . Its something we have work on.
Well, friday again.I am weaving again at last and I did a little watercolour to-day.
good bye for now Mom.
